Air Fryer- The Most Healthy Way To Eat Great Fried Food

Michal Frankel

Whoever said that crispy chicken wings and drool-worthy pizza couldn't be healthy never owned an air fryer! We looked at the best Air Fryers on the market that not only fry but also roast, bake, and grill!

What is in an Air-Fryer, and why do you need one?

Love eating fried foods but hate what they do to your waistline and cholesterol levels? Famed chefs across the globe are singing the praise of air fryers as a healthy alternative without compromising on texture or taste. Air Fryers take the guesswork out of cooking. They work by circulating hot air around a food item to create the same crispiness as in traditional fried foods, and at the touch of a button. With just one tablespoon of cooking oil, you can create delicious family meals and crowd-pleasers with a fraction of the fat and calories.

What Can You Cook In An Air Fryer?

Perhaps the question should be, 'what can't you cook in an air fryer?' Essentially countertop convection ovens, an air fryer can cook pretty much anything your taste buds desire, from chicken, veggies, cheese sticks, and fish to pizza and even freshly baked cookies. Air fryers do a particularly good job cooking up frozen foods that are meant to taste deep-fried - think frozen French fries or onion rings. You can even fry an egg! Yep, that's right…. just place some cold eggs in the air fryer basket, set the timer (depending on whether you like them sunny-side-up, easy over, or hard), and let the air fryer do the rest for you.

Get The Most Out Of Your Air Fryer

Contrary to popular belief, air fryers are not cumbersome clumsy pieces of iron that require large kitchens in which to thrive. In fact, air fryers are typically not much larger than a toaster, light to handle, and are very suitable for smaller kitchens. To get the most out of your air fryer, it is important to follow a few golden rules. Always preheat your fryer to the proper temperature before you get cooking so that the temperature and airflow will be at the right levels and food can cook to crispy air fried perfection. As tempting as it may be, don't overcrowd the basket, as this will lead to an unevenly cooked food. Don't use too much, or too little oil. Using too much oil can cause the oil to drip and hit the bottom tray leading the excess oil to burn and smoke. On the same hand, using too little oil can cause overheating. Lastly, always wash your fryer after each use to prevent the build-up of fats and oils in the frying basket.
